Robert Byrns Lafayette Lumpkin Foster Research Collection

This collection chronicles Robert's writing of his Masters' Thesis, "A Biography of L. L. Foster (President of A&M, 1898-1901)".

Included are around 100 letters to and from Byrns to help further his research. The recipients of these letters are from all over Texas and cover a wide range of persons from the military to librarians. Also included are pictures of L. L. Foster's children.

Joseph "Joe" Utay Collection

This collection contains memorabilia from Joe Utay’s career as a football coach during the mid-1900s along with his collection of football programs and stats rosters from his time serving in the Southwest Conference. Joe Utay was a member of the Texas A&M Football team from 1905-1907 as a halfback and was the football coach from 1912-1936. He was involved with the Southwestern Conference, the Cotton Bowl, and the Texas Officials Association.

This collection includes correspondence from Douglas MacArthur (then serving as the Commandant of West Point) discussing a potential football game between West Point and Texas A&M College. This collection also contains two lawsuits appealing for Texas A&M College to admit women to the university in 1933 and 1955. (The lawsuits were given to Joe Utay for legal review.)

The collection includes several local newspapers, commemorative Bryan, TX memorabilia along with photographs of historic Texas A&M College during the early 1900s.

The collection includes light-sensitive glass plate negatives.

These invitations were once owned by students who attended the university/college.  Most invitations were produced as a means of communication, due to the limited means of communication in some eras. The invitations cover dates and times that were important to the TAMU/TAMC student body. They can be used to research the sociality of people of the 20th century as well as the late 19th century.

These calendars function as planners or nostalgia tokens for their previous owners, with a collection of events and pictures. The covers of the Texas A&M College (TAMC) are authentic leather with the years pressed into them. The college calendars consist of past time pictures of A&M's campus, students, and faculty. The calendars cover events that were important to A&M specifically and were created in Bryan/ College Station, Texas. These calendars showcased important events for the A&M community to come together. A couple of these calendars were formerly owned by former students and may contain sensitive information (i.e. address), so please be mindful of their privacy.

Lt. Haynes W. Dugan Collection

This collection includes two manuscripts written by Dugan entitled The Great Class of 1934 and On My Way to the Cemetery. The first work chronicles Dugan's life at A&M College and the latter discusses his experiences in World War II (WWII).

Other items in the collection include newspaper clippings related to WWII and the Texas A&M Aggies who fought in the war, war correspondence from the 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions, and reunion information on the 3rd Armored Division.

This collection was accumulated by university archivists Donald H. Dyal and David Chapman for the publication titled "Cushing Under Cover", part of the commemoration for the re-dedication of Cushing Memorial Library. The collection includes photocopies of the archivists' secondary and tertiary research on Edward Benjamin Cushing, along with primary resources on Cushing including, among other materials, correspondence, maps, World War I (WWI) reports, and distinction certificates.

Irvin M. Atkins "Water Mills of Texas" Manuscript

This collection includes the manuscript, Water Mills of Texas on early agriculture, and one personal letter to David Schultz from Dudley T. Smith explaining the manuscript contents.

The manuscript, unfortunately, was not completed or published before Atkins's passing and was his last major project among his many great histories. It remains unedited and "Contains considerable information about early agriculture, the use of horsepower and mechanization, and the processing of wheat and other grains into flour. The photographs are unique and the text gives insights into early foundations of industrialization in Texas- mostly along "fall lines" where numerous rivers in Texas dropped in elevation and water power could be harnessed."

The manuscript totals 69 pages, bibliography included, with the first-page giving a perspective about the paper and its goals.
