Lleweyln Powys Letters

This collection contains letters that are instigated by the inquiries of Mr. Charles Perry Gould, and his desire to have Llewelyn Powys write an introduction for the upcoming reprint of The Simple Cobbler of Agawam. It contains the initial contact, the deal under which Powys writes the introduction, and also what happens to his writings after Powys' death. Sometimes in his letters to Mr. Gould, Llewelyn encloses postcards of Davos, Switzerland, as well as a picture of the author himself.

Huntsville Prison Siege Clippings Collection

This collection contains newspaper articles from the Huntsville Item about the Huntsville Prison Siege that lasted from July 24th to August 3rd, 1974. Fred Carrasco, a life sentence inmate, smuggled firearms into his cell, and with two other inmate accomplices, he took fifteen hostages, 11 being prison workers and 4 being inmates. The convicts walked the hostages to an escape car they had arranged, but officers and FBI agents shot them with a fire hose, compelling the convicts to kill two hostages and then for Carrasco to apparently kill himself. The other two convicts were sentenced to death row and the siege would become the longest prison siege in US history.

This collection contains a personal ledger of Eva Long Anderson. She includes grocery lists, receipts, remedies for ailments, recipes, and newspaper clippings from the 1890s-1900. The remedies are particular for various diseases ranging from sulfur for smallpox, elecampane root for rabies, and potash for warts. Her son, Mr. Anderson provided the ledger for Cushing Archive in 1964 and the correspondents are included in the box between himself and the archive at the time, Ernest Langford.

Bill Crider/Robert Skinner Collection

This collection consists almost entirely of correspondence between legendary Texas writer Bill Crider and author and professor Robert E. Skinner, of Xavier University in New Orleans. Over several years, the two became regular correspondents in exchanges involving numerous subjects, including writers, writing, films, books, and their personal lives.

The two did not cease corresponding after 1998 (the date of last correspondence in the collection), but once Crider and Skinner started using email as their major medium of choice, Skinner ceased collecting the exchanges.

George R.R. Martin Fan Mail Collection

This collections consists of fan mail received by noted author George R.R. Martin, including letters, cards, requests for signed bookplates, invitations, and solicitations. Most of the fan mail concerns Martin's fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaptation Game of Thrones. A large subseries concerns fan response to the television show Beauty and the Beast (1987-1990), for which Martin was a writer and producer.

Texas A&M Student Government Association (SGA) Records

This collection contains documents from the Student Government Association (SGA) including bills, constitutions, agendas and minutes of specific committees and councils, and much more regarding the university's government system.

Most of the documents consist of primary sources that were either handwritten or typed. The collection is mostly made up of agendas, minutes, bills, and correspondence of various A&M student committees and councils. There are a few documents on various university programs and issues that occurred between the 1970s and early 1990s. The entire collection covers the time period from the late 1960s to the early 1990s respectively. These documents only address Texas A&M ventures and concerns regarding the student system.

The collection also includes various traditional events (i.e. Muster) and important people (i.e. Dr. Koldus) that was a result of or contributed to Texas A&M's Student Government.

George W. Ingram Letters

This collection contains original letters exchanged between George W. Ingram and his wife, Martha F. Ingram, while George was serving as an officer in the 12th Texas Cavalry during the Civil War. Typed transcripts of the letters are included.

Henri Dron's United States of Earth Imaginary Utopia

This collection contains the maps of The United States of Earth dated 1876-1903, by Henri Dron, who was a geographer that envisioned a utopia of the world united into several states.

Dron's utopia consists of six maps of each continental confederation with annotations of his utopia visions. The goal of unity is depicted in three maps of Europe with connective highways along the Danube river and with Dron's Universal Renovating Academy. The world map shows all twelve states under the United States of Earth to end international strife.

The collection also includes three newsletters, the Ideograph, where Dron shared his utopia ideas by giving examples of his maps and explaining them in detail. Lastly, there are two documents where Dron is attempting to recruit and register subscribers to his newsletters and ideals. Dron's archive displays map development and how it ties to political ideologies at the turn of the century.

This collection solely pertains to Texas A&M Graduate Studies Program.

Included are lists with the names of students who were omitted from the official Commencement Program but recognized by the university to approve for upper-level degrees. The documents contain the student's name and the titles of each student's dissertation. The dates shown on these documents are the date for the day the students were recommended, and the date they will be reviewed.

This collection contains correspondence throughout the life of Hernan H. Contreras, both personal and professional, descriptions of his family home, a warranty deed on property owned by the Contreras family in Starr County, a map of these lots, photographs of family and coworkers in the U.S. Department of Immigration office in Starr County, an autograph book from his public school career, utility bills, receipts, junk mail, and oil and gas leases.

The collection also contains a multitude of papers from Mr. Contreras' wife's family, particularly those of her father, Casamiro Perez Alvares. The contents of these papers include oil and gas leases, utility bills, newspaper articles, correspondence with the U.S. Marshal's office in Galveston, subpoenas, arrest warrants, witness testimonies, receipts, government bulletins, poll tax receipts, land and city tax receipts, family photographs, marriage licenses, wedding invitations, funeral notices, personal letters, business letters, bank statements, checks, deposits, Christmas cards, a pamphlet on communism, a report card, ration sheets from World War I, Letters to the Editor of Newsweek magazine, articles on Estela Contreras' run for political office, and a picture of Estela Contreras from 1993. There is also a collection of reels accompanying all the paper items.

Also included are maps of some countries from the Middle East such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. The maps contain spots where oil and gas can be found in such countries from the 1950s to the late 1960s. There are also two booklet guides for learning the Arabic language.

McDaniel Family Papers

This collection contains personal letters of the McDaniel family from 1855-1916 along with civil war letters from Confederate soldiers. The letters originate from the McDaniel family in Texas and Mississippi during and after the civil war. Many of the items in the collection are fragile, and transcriptions were made of the letters. This collection also contains family recipes, remedies, along with stereoscopic view plates.

The McDaniel family spans across Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas. Julius and Minerva (Rodgers) McDaniel were farmers who lived in Ben Hur, Texas during the 1800s.
