This collection contains a large collection of reference materials relating to science fiction and fantasy author Andre Norton, assembled by Norton researcher Joseph Goldin. Materials include book reviews (both of Norton's work and those written by Norton herself in her capacity as a librarian at the Cleveland Public Library), essays, interviews, and other articles. They are drawn from newspapers, fanzines, secondary reference works, and prozines, among others.

With one or two exceptions, all of the materials in the collection are photocopies of the originals.

The collection spans the life of James Earl Rudder. The bulk (1944-1970) of the materials roughly correspond to the chronology of James Earl Rudder's life, with additional materials collected mainly by his wife, Margaret Rudder. The collection includes materials from Rudder’s time in the service during WWII, clippings from newspapers, as well as posters, magazine issues, memorabilia, and Rudder’s awards.

This collection contains materials relating to the creation, development, and printing of the series of Star Trek fanzines devoted to the Kraith Universe. The Kraith Universe was a shared Star Trek alternate universe created by Jacqueline Lichtenberg in 1970, and six collected volumes of Kraith stories were originally published between 1972-1980 by publisher/editor Carol Lynn and her associate Debbie Goldstein.

The series contains correspondence, copies of the Kraith fanzines themselves, and related materials such as story drafts. A large part of the collection consists of printing masters for the Kraith zines as well as a few other zines published by Lynn.

Also included are various materials from several science fiction conventions.

This collection consists of handwritten research notes, correspondence from various individuals, institutions and organizations, and photocopied materials collected by Dominic Hibberd for his 2001 biography Harold Monro: Poet of the New Age. It also includes the papers and research notes of Ruth Tomalin. Alida Monro left Tomalin money to write a biography of Harold Monro, but this was contested by an executor of the will. Though she won her court case, Tomalin did not write the biography, and instead passed her notes to Patric Dickson, another potential biographer, who in turn gave them to Dominic Hibberd. The collection also contains publicity materials and publication information for Hibberd's book.

This collection contains materials relating to the life and career of author, publisher and professor Dr. Lawrence M. Schoen, in particular his work as founder of the Klingon Language Institute (KLI). The KLI is a nonprofit organization founded in 1992 and devoted to the study and promotion of the Klingon language and culture.

Materials in the collection include correspondence, much of it related to the KLI; materials related to the KLI and the Klingon language; and news articles.

This collection covers the GLBT community at Texas A&M University (TAMU), Brazos Valley, Texas, and US, from 1972 to 1990 (and one item from 2000).  This time period includes the Gay Student Services’ (GSS) 1976 lawsuit to be recognized by TAMU and the subsequent litigation that ended in 1985 with GSS gaining official campus recognition.  Local GLBT publications from the Brazos Valley from before and after GSS’ recognition are included.  The National March for Gay/Lesbian Rights in Washington, D.C. in October 1979 is covered in this collection at the state and national levels.  The collection also includes news coverage of the gay rights movement from around Texas and the US.

This collection contains materials collected and assembled by John A. Adams, Jr. as an active United States participant in the negotiations and agreement to permit free trade among the United States, Canada, and Mexico in what became the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1987. As a trained historian, Adams recognized the importance of documenting as much of the process as a single active participant could. In that process, he accumulated a wide variety of materials that include clippings, magazine articles, books, reports, correspondence, notes, newswire reports, pamphlets, leaflets, conference papers and programs, and other types of documents that shed light on the process of negotiating an international treaty.

After the treaty was formally approved by all parties involved, Adams boxed all of the documents he had collected, produced a report in which he briefly described the contents of each of the twenty-one boxes, and then gave them to the Political Sciences and Economics Library (PSEL) of the Texas A&M University Libraries where they were then house in three filing cabinets. A copy of Adams' report has been cataloged with a call number of HF 17456. A33.

During the 2005-2006 academic year, the materials were removed from the filing cabinets in PSEL and placed into 19 cubic foot archival boxes by Archivist Charles R. Schultz, who at the time also created a report of his own which included an inventory description of the contents used in the creation of this collection record. After the materials were rehoused and inventoried, they were deposited into the Cushing Memorial Library & Archives where all of the archives and special collections materials are housed.

The materials have been kept in the original folders in which Mr. Adams had them when he presented them to Texas A&M University. Some of the materials were not in folders when they were rehoused from the filing cabinets into boxes at PSEL and are still not in folders. In those cases where materials were not in boxes, that information is included in the descriptions of the folders in each of the nineteen boxes.

This collection is comprised of correspondence, publications, writings, listings, directories, manuscripts, photographs, and research material for the Powers publication on Texas art and artists, titled, "Texas Painters, Sculptors & Graphic Artists: A Biographical Dictionary of Artists in Texas Before 1942", Austin, TX: Woodmont Books, 2000. The collection is primarily photocopies and writings of the Powers with some published materials.

The original order has been maintained as much as possible. Correspondence is dispersed throughout the collection with most concentrated in box 1. Those artists with significant information have been given a single file. The artists' information files are arranged in alphabetical order by artist's last name and are inclusive of all artists within the alphabetical listing. Each of these files begins with one artist and ends with the last artist information in the file. Artists' information can consist of one news item to several pages of information. To find an artist's name not listed on the file, please look at the file where his name would be in the alphabet.

This collection includes commencement programs for the College of Medicine at Texas A&M University from June 1981 - June 1999.

This growing collection covers the period in Bryan-College Station when the gay community was increasingly out and vocal, but still faced significant hostility on the Texas A&M University campus, where Aggie Allies was still a very young organization at this time, and in the local community. It contains papers, flyers, records, photographs, promotional items, and ephemera from the gay bar/club scene in Bryan-College Station in the 1990s.

This collection functions as a record of commencements done by Texas A&M's College of Veterinary Medicine. These programs are reports to the public, who attends the commencement, and clearly list all candidates for graduation.

This collection consists of the research collection McQueen built and used to write Black Churches in Texas. A Guide to Historic Congregations (Texas A&M University Press, 2000).

The contents consist mainly of "Texas County Historical Black Church" information sheets, each listed as an "inventory" in the finding guide, accompanied by related church history materials including church worship service programs, also called orders of worship; church homecoming and anniversary publications; handwritten and typed letters mostly regarding church history; newspaper clippings about historic congregations and members; notes about the history and location of churches and contact persons in congregations; business cards for contacts; published church histories; photocopies from published books about related counties, cities, and congregations; Texas county maps; color slides, photographic prints and negatives of church cornerstones, existing church buildings, Texas Historical Markers, and congregation members.

Also present are photocopies of newspaper clippings covering African American religious issues and manuscript drafts for McQueen's book, many of which are heavily annotated by McQueen.

The inventories and related church history materials were amassed by data collection teams organized by McQueen and also collected by McQueen himself. Norris Braly, a member of the Burleson County Historical Committee, documented the first church history in February 1988. McQueen documented the last congregation on August 24, 1997.

Most of the church worship service programs are laser printed. However, there are a few earlier documents that are photocopies of mimeographed sheets, and a few that were professionally printed. When the word "typed" is used to describe a church history, it means that the history was not professionally printed.

Variant congregation names exist within the documents (for example, Macedonia First Baptist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church). For the purpose of this finding guide, we have chosen to use the form of the congregation name given in Black Churches in Texas. Files exist within the collection for congregations that do not appear in Black Churches in Texas because exact organization dates could not be determined at the time of publication. Conversely, not every church listed in McQueen's book has a folder in the collection (for example Colored Methodist Episcopal Church of Sweeny in Brazoria County).

McQueen used different versions of the inventory form to document the churches. Though the information requested is the same, the format may differ. McQueen also copyrighted many of his slides, and so most of them bear handwritten copyright information.

This collection consists of "Durka Returns", a script for Episode 15, Season 1 of the joint Australian-American television series Farscape (1999-2003). The episode, originally released in 1999, is notable for introducing the character Chiana, played by Gigi Edgley. It was written by Rockne S. O'Bannon and Grant McAloon.

The script was originally the property of Edgley's, and has been heavily marked up with her acting notes and edits. It is inscribed to Jeremy Brett, to whom it was given in early 2023.

This collection includes two manuscripts written by Dugan entitled The Great Class of 1934 and On My Way to the Cemetery. The first work chronicles Dugan's life at A&M College and the latter discusses his experiences in World War II (WWII).

Other items in the collection include newspaper clippings related to WWII and the Texas A&M Aggies who fought in the war, war correspondence from the 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions, and reunion information on the 3rd Armored Division.

This collection consists of materials chiefly relating to the professional relationship between legendary F&SF author Andre Norton, and Walker and Company editor Mary Elizabeth Allen. Materials include correspondence (typescript signed) from Norton to Allen, a copy of the uncorrected proofs for the 1992 Allen-edited anthology All Hallows' Eve (featuring the Norton story "The Nabob's Gift"), contracts for Allen signed by Norton, a signed outline of Norton's story "Horn of Herne" addressed to Allen, and photocopied descriptive material by Norton about her Witch World.

The materials in this collection consist of typescript pages and drafts, correspondence, and other materials related to Shiner's involvement with the Wild Cards shared universe novel project (1987-present). Most of the materials involve Shiner's direction of the comic book adaptations of the Wild Cards universe, including the 1990 Epic Comics four-part series, and subsequent unpublished stories.

This collection consists of administrative and business files from Victor Gollancz, Ltd., one of the most important publishing companies in 20th-century Great Britain. Gollancz published the works of many science fiction authors, including, notably, Arthur C. Clarke.

The materials in this collection specifically document Gollancz' relationship with Clarke over a period of nearly 40 years, during which Gollancz published many of Clarke's most important novels - including The Hammer of God, Imperial Earth, and the three sequels to Rendezvous With Rama as well as many of Clarke's nonfiction works. Materials include correspondence (including from Clarke himself), contracts and agreements, administrative documentation, and dust jackets from numerous works of Clarke.

Overall the collection provides a window into the relationship between an author and his publisher, and the ways in which they interact to produce a finished literary product.

This collection includes documents of the Burchard/Birchard family from 1821 to 1998. The family is notable to Texas as Amasa Burchard was a founder of Independence Texas in 1835. The Burchard family claimed land through the generations in Texas following Amasa Burchard. The family remains active in Texas as John W. Burchard helped erect a Historical Landmark in Independence in 1998.

This collection contains correspondence and contracts transmitted between H. E. Bates, Agnes Miller Parker, and the London publishing house of Victor Gollancz, Ltd. Among the contents are 28 letters from H. E. Bates and 30 letters from Agnes Miller Parker (Agnes M. McCance), all to Victor Gollancz or his representatives, concerning three books, one of which was projected but never published under the firm's imprint. Also present are single letters from Edmund Blunden, Sylvia Lynd, and the illustrator, Peter Partington.

This collection consists of various card/board games and role-playing game modules and gamebooks (separately cataloged) collected by MSC Nova, the now-defunct Texas A&M University student group devoted to tabletop gaming. Also included are some various objects relating to the organization.

Athletic programs include specific information relevant to an individual game. This ranges from the schedule, the competitions' statistics, and the roster for both teams.

This collection represents 68 years of materials authored or collected by Turner. Series 1. through Series 4. include highway engineering reports written for the Bureau of Public Roads, Clay Committee papers dating from the 1950s hearings on the development of a national interstate highway program, and speeches, publications, correspondence, and research notes generated by his career as a federal highway official. The aforementioned inscribed copy of A More Beautiful America by Lyndon Baines Johnson is is included in this material.

Upon his retirement, Turner became a transportation consultant, advising local, national, and international agencies, associations, and companies on transportation issues. The bulk of these post-retirement and consulting materials are found in Series 5 through Series 9. These materials include maps, photographs, research notes and manuscript drafts for a three-year study he and Harmer E. Davis conducted for the International Road Federation. The study, published in 1977 and titled A Comparative Analysis of Urban Transportation Requirements, compares transportation needs in urban areas in fourteen countries, including the United States.

Another large portion of the papers found in Series 7. contains papers related to Turner's membership in various associations. Throughout his lifetime Turner remained devoted to groups such as the Highway Users Federation and the American Association of State Highway Officials. Correspondence, speeches, and conference notes related to these associations reflect his continued involvement in the transportation field almost until the year of his death.

The collection also includes correspondence, transcripts, and drafts of several reports recording the history of the interstate highway, a subject for which Turner was a popular informant. The most extensive project is a study by the Public Works Historical Society, commissioned by the American Public Works Association and the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials.

This collection contains speeches that function as records of prominent speakers and mark the days of Commencement, Muster, and dedications at Texas A&M. This collection covers a range of years as far back as 1877 to 1997. The location of every speech given was at the A&M Campus.

These calendars function as planners or nostalgia tokens for their previous owners, with a collection of events and pictures. The covers of the Texas A&M College (TAMC) are authentic leather with the years pressed into them. The college calendars consist of past time pictures of A&M's campus, students, and faculty. The calendars cover events that were important to A&M specifically and were created in Bryan/ College Station, Texas. These calendars showcased important events for the A&M community to come together. A couple of these calendars were formerly owned by former students and may contain sensitive information (i.e. address), so please be mindful of their privacy.
