This collection contains materials from Jernigan who was a faculty member at Texas A&M College.

This collection consists of one notebook (housed in a phase box), measuring approximately 10 x 8 inches, containing 49 leaves of machine ruled paper, in cloth over cardboard covers, which was manufactured with two-hole punched metal fasteners.

The front cover design shows: at the top "…A. & M. COLLEGE…, COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS"; in the center, a black and white picture depicting the Old Main building on the Texas A & M College campus, measuring 4.5 x 4 inches; below picture, "Department of" with a ruled space filled in by hand with ink the word "Horticulture," and "Name" with a ruled space filled in by hand in ink with the name "Jess Easterwood."; at center bottom, "PUBLISHED BY, W. M. WELCH MFG. COMPANY, 100 LAKE ST., CHICAGO, WELCH'S PATENT AUTOMATIC FASTENER." The name "EASTERWOOD" and other initials, etc. are scrawled in ink or pencil on the front cover as well.

Most of the notebook's leaves are filled in on the recto page only with class notes written by hand in either pencil or ink, labeled as taken from lectures. A few pages are filled with scrawled names and phrases, repeated over and over, the phrases usually in some way related to the lecture notes, but often just variations on Easterwood's name or initials.

One exception found on leaf 19 is the beginnings of a draft letter, dated January 25, [19]08, to his father, noting that Easterwood has been recently ill for a "protracted" period of time. Lecture notes in roughly the first half of the notebook pertain to Animal Husbandry [l. 1-14; l. 15-18 & 20 are blank], especially causes, symptoms, and treatment of conditions such as colic, heaves, constipation, dysentery, catarrh of stomach and bowels in livestock, while the latter half are concerned with a class labeled "Horticulture 4" [l. 21-49; the top half of l. 45 is torn out], particularly the cultivating of fruit trees and the marketing of their produce.

Aside from presenting an interesting taste of curriculum offerings at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College in the early twentieth century, some of the notebook's scrawled asides give a quite colorful glimpse into the mind of a restless and enterprising cadet straying from the lecture in progress.

The bulk (1944-1970) of the materials roughly correspond to the chronology of James Earl Rudder's life, with additional materials collected mainly by his wife, Margaret Rudder. The collection includes materials from Rudder’s time in the service during WWII, clippings from newspapers, as well as posters, magazine issues, memorabilia, and Rudder’s awards.

The James C. Nagle Photographic Album is a Kodak album containing photographs of Texas A&M College campus, circa 1900.

This collection includes photographs, correspondence, sketches, and certifications for Nagle, who was a professor at the College of Texas A&M from 1890 to 1913. This collection spans from 1882 to 1927 along with a later article written in 1967 about Nagle.

This collection contains class notes and workbooks from J. V. Morton relating to Agricultural Engineering and Economics.

This collection contains clippings, news articles, and photographs of J. R. Cole, Sr., as well as the resources that he used to write his autobiography (included). Also included is correspondence from J. R. Cole, Jr. and correspondence between the archives and donors.

This collection contains papers of Dr. J. Oscar Morgan who was a Professor of Agronomy at A & M College of Texas in the early 1900s. Few exact dates could be identified, but some of the papers are dated around 1911-1912.

There is no information about whether these papers were ever published as articles, or whether they were used only in the classroom.

This collection includes the manuscript, Water Mills of Texas on early agriculture, and one personal letter to David Schultz from Dudley T. Smith explaining the manuscript contents.

The manuscript, unfortunately, was not completed or published before Atkins's passing and was his last major project among his many great histories. It remains unedited and "Contains considerable information about early agriculture, the use of horsepower and mechanization, and the processing of wheat and other grains into flour. The photographs are unique and the text gives insights into early foundations of industrialization in Texas- mostly along "fall lines" where numerous rivers in Texas dropped in elevation and water power could be harnessed."

The manuscript totals 69 pages, bibliography included, with the first-page giving a perspective about the paper and its goals.

This collection contains three scrapbooks, one of which belonged to Irene Claghorn, filled with photographs and mementos dating from the early 1900s through the 1940s.

This collection contains a 24-page handwritten essay on Ice machinery written on June 16, 1882, by C. S. Travis. Possibly, this was an essay for a class assignment or lecture. The essay describes Ice machinery mechanics in 1882.

This collection contains correspondence related to the Texas A&M veterinarian, Hubert Schmidt, along with notes on fellow veterinarian Mark Frances, veterinary books, and translations, along with Texas A&M College memorabilia. This collection contains a "T" certificate from Hubert Schmidt’s time as a member of the Texas A&M College football team from 1906-1908. This collection also contains veterinary publications and notes related to Hubert Schmidt and Mark Francis.

The collection consists of 3 volumes of hazing investigation transcripts, totalling 714 pages.

This collection contains letters written to Hal Moseley, dealing primarily with football and football coaches at A&M from 1898 to 1900. Also, included in the collection are Moseley's own report cards from 1899, commencement invitations from 1898 and 1900, and hand-drawn illustrations from a mechanical engineering class he attended at A&M. The collection also contains a subscription advertisement for the "Texas Foot Ball Review" dated March 25, 1897.

This collection contains documents pertaining to Gustav H. Pape's life including photographs, correspondence, biography, and other personal items.

This collection contains a photocopy of Chapter 8 from the second edition of a book entitled Gustav McKee Watkins: A Biography, by John Bennett Watkins II, with additional references including a follow-up email of contents and extra biography materials.

This collection contains letters dated between 1897-1923, primarily between brothers Max Goeth and Conrad Goeth (C. A.). The brothers opened two businesses together, La Salle Truck Farm, and Cotulla Farming and Irrigation Company. The second business was a contracting company for farm land. The two brothers leased land and sold crops, and it is inferred that Max and Conrad had two other brothers named Richard and Eddie, and that their father was Chas. Goeth (C. G.).

This scrapbook belonged to George B. Quillen and contains materials from his time at A&M college from 1924-1927.

This scrapbook contains memorabilia, photographs, and biographical information from when Edgar Perry Jennings was at A&M College from 1912 to 1917.

This collection is the result of the family of Earl O. Hall seeking to determine the circumstances of his last mission (in February 1943), and the location of the action where the plane was shot down. The search took several years and resulted in the discovery of several incorrect versions of the events of that day. With the assistance of the Air Force Historical Unit at Maxwell Air Force Base, a good record of the actions of the 42nd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) from December 1941 through February 1943 was assembled. The collection consists of family papers from the Hall family, records from the family of Joaquin Castro, Co-Pilot, correspondence to and from the Hall family, correspondence from individuals in the South Pacific, correspondence from the Army Air Force, and other related correspondence. Material from printed histories of the Seventh Air Force, the 13th Air Force, the 42nd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), and other published material sheds light on the wartime history of the area, and conditions of the military bases in 1942.

This collection consists of 26 plant sample sheets (not all containing plants) with descriptions that had been collected from the area surrounding the Texas A&M campus in Brazos Valley County. The samples were gathered from April 14 to May 28, 1890, by Eugene W. Carter.

In November 2003, M. D. Reed of the Texas A&M University Biology Department repaired and curated the herbarium's botany samples leaving the following note: This collection may have been used as a teaching aid in a Botany class, since E. W. Carter does not appear in student rolls from the period.
These are common plants of the Brazos Co. spring flora. The "analysis" on each sheet is correct and painstakingly thorough. The book used to identify the plants was probably one by Asa Gray not meant for Texas. But since there was no complete treatment for Texas in 1890, this is hardly a fault.

This scrapbook contains photographs from E. C. Cushing's time at Texas A&M from 1919-1923.

Dyal and David Chapman for the publication titled "Cushing Under Cover", part of the commemoration for the re-dedication of Cushing Memorial Library. The collection includes photocopies of the archivists' secondary and tertiary research on Edward Benjamin Cushing, along with primary resources on Cushing including, among other materials, correspondence, maps, World War I (WWI) reports, and distinction certificates.
