This collection consists of manuscript materials for the novels from SF and fantasy author Clarke, including outlines, drafts, notes, and submission packages. Also included is the final version of Clarke's master thesis, an unpublished novel of magical realism entitled Light Pollution.

The materials in the Clarke Collection are entirely digital.

This collection consists of fanzines, mostly fanfiction, involving the television shows Star Trek: The Original Series and Starsky & Hutch, with one additional fanzine devoted to Multimedia.)

The majority of the contents in this collection consist of fanfiction. Fanfiction is the name given to literary or artistic productions created by fans about the characters, settings, and events of the media universe in which they are interested. A substantial portion of the fanworks in the Crawford Collection is identified as "slash”. "Slash" refers to fanworks that feature same-sex relationships and are sometimes (though not always) sexually explicit. In slash, sexual identity, sexuality, and/or romance are often the centers of the story, rather than the conventional adventures featured in more traditional fanworks.

Slash and het (that is, items dealing with opposite-sex relationships) items are identified as such on the item folder. If an item is not identified as slash or het, it is to be assumed that the item is “gen” (containing no sexual or romantic content). Both slash and het items have been specifically identified because of their importance as highly visible fan fiction subcultures, (s) indicates slash material, (h) indicates het material, (g) indicates gen material.

This collection consists of an example of H. Rider Haggard's (Sir Henry Rider Haggard) autograph, dated 1889 and written on stationary reading "Ditchingham House, Bungay" (Haggard's home in Suffolk), together with a carte de visite of Haggard, printed by Newsboy in New York, Undated.

This collection consists of a variety of media fanzines, mostly from the British television show The Professionals, but also including smaller numbers of fanzines from The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Sentinel, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and several other media properties.

The majority of the content is fanfiction. Almost all the fanworks in this collection are identified as "slash,” referring to fanworks that feature same-sex relationships and are sometimes (though not always) sexually explicit. The collection also includes substantial numbers of fanvids (songvids). "Vidding" refers to the fannish activity of creating a music video (a 'fanvid') consisting of clips from various movies or TV shows set to particular pieces of music. Some vids utilize a single media universe, others involve multiple ones. The music that accompanies the clips is selected by the vidder in order to drive a particular narrative or to make a point about the characters or story being shown. Often these points are subversive of the accepted canon (for example, a vidder might use judiciously selected clips to suggest that two or more characters have a romantic relationship, whereas in "real life" no such relationship is stated or implied).

Finally, the collection includes a number of CDs containing images and stories from the yaoi genre of animated Japanese media. Yaoi, like slash, focuses on sexual or romantic relationships between male characters, as well as several examples of fan art from the television show Supernatural.

This collection consists of a group of thirty issues of The Argonaut (1879-1889) containing twenty-three science-fiction stories by Robert Duncan Milne, some in two or three parts. References to "Moskowitz" indicate his edition of eleven stories by Milne, Into the Sun (West Kingston, RI: Donald M. Grant, Publisher, 1980). Eighteen of the stories in this lot were not published in Moskowitz's edition and have never been reprinted, to the best of our knowledge.

The time period covered in this lot is 1879 to 1889. The Argonaut was generally printed on good, non-pulpy paper and, barring abuse, remains in good condition and can be handled with due care without fear of crumbling paper. The Argonaut was a weekly literary newspaper published in San Francisco starting in 1878 and running well into the 20th century. It contained political commentary as well as departmental reviews of books, drama, food, fashion, etc. Ambrose Bierce wrote weekly columns during the first two and a half years of its existence. The editors had a penchant for weird and fantastic fiction and published such material by W. C. Morrow, Emma Frances Dawson, Robert Duncan Milne and a host of other minor authors, as well as offering translations of European material in this vein. Milne was evidently popular among The Argonaut readers, for his stories are often featured on the front page.

This collection contains the original handwritten manuscript for Lee's 1976 novel Don't Bite The Sun, the first in her two-book Four-BEE series (a sequel to the book, Drinking Sapphire Wine, was published in 1977). Lee wrote the novel when she was 21, though it was not published until some years later.

The manuscript, in addition to the text of the novel, contains several illustrations from Lee, a description of the novel's structure, a name guide for the use of the manuscript's typist, and a list of chapter lengths. A 2014 note from Lee on the first page notes that the first few pages of the manuscript (the Prologue) are missing.

Also included is a photocopy of the typescript (with handwritten edits) of Lee's 2010 short story collection Disturbed By Her Song, published by Lethe Press. Along, with Lee, Esther Garber, and her half-brother, Judas Garbah is credited as the authors of the work. Garber and Garbah were supposedly French writers from the mid-20th-century whom Lee claimed to be channeling when she wrote the pieces.

This collection consists almost entirely of correspondence from Ray Bradbury regarding submissions and publishing during Bradbury's early career, 1939-1950s. Most of the letters were written to Erle Korshak, founder of Shasta Publishers, but some of the correspondence is both to and from Ted Dikty, Shasta's managing editor and a well-known SF anthologist.

There are a few later pieces of correspondence, dating from the 1980s.

This collection consists of "cutting continuity" scripts for two science fiction film serials produced by Republic Pictures, Undersea Kingdom (1936), and Flying Disc Man From Mars (1950). Both serials had 12 episodes, the scripts for all of which are in the collection.

"Cutting continuity" scripts were not so much as screenplays in the traditional sense of the primary documents that are used to construct a film, as transcriptions of the final filmed product that were sent to the Production Code Administration (the self-regulating Hollywood agency that from 1934-1968 examined and judged movies for their content), to state censors, or to exhibitors.

This collection consists of two typed manuscripts (with corrections) of Philip Jose Farmer, including his Hugo Award-winning novella Riders of the Purple Wage (1967) with a signed cover letter to Harlan Ellison and Larry Ashmead and which was originally published in Harlan Ellison's groundbreaking anthology Dangerous Visions.
The manuscript "Sketches Among The Ruins of My Mind" (1973) signed by Farmer in August 1986, is accompanied by a 1972 letter from Harry Harrison containing suggested edits to Farmer's story.

The collection consists of carbon copies for the typed manuscripts Mer-Cycle (154 leaves) and Mer-Cycle, Part 2 (136 leaves).

This collection contains a Star Trek program guide, scripts, and a prospectus.

This collection consists of materials relating to two of Samuel R. Delany's more famous novels. Materials include two typescripts of his 1973 novel Equinox (originally published as The Tides of Lust), and the corrected galley proofs of Triton (1976).

Also included is the typescript of Delany's 1979 memoir Heavenly Breakfast.

The manuscripts all contain holograph corrections and revisions by Delany.  There is also a note contextualizing the manuscript on the first page of each item.

This collection consists of documents relating to the publication by the science fiction and fantasy small press Underwood-Miller, Inc., of a number of works by or relating to the noted science fiction author Philip K. Dick. The works Underwood-Miller published that are documented here include Dick's In Pursuit of VALIS: Selections from the Exegesis (1991), and the series The Selected Letters of Philip K. Dick.

Materials in the collection include correspondence, production documentation, galleys, typescripts, and photocopies of much of Dick's correspondence used in assembling the Selected Letters. Also included are a few media publications related to Dick and his work.

This collection consists of two copyedited manuscript anthologies: one, Little Deaths: 24 Tales of Sex and Horror (1995), edited by famed genre editor Ellen Datlow; and another, The Green Man: Tales from The Mythic Forest (2002), co-edited by Datlow and Terri Windling as part of Viking's Mythic Fiction series. The latter work won the 2002 World Fantasy Award for Best Anthology.

This collection consists of materials from various science fiction and fantasy conventions, assembled over the years by Russ Ault. Materials include program guides, program books, and pocket programs.

This collection (also known as the Moorcock Life Collection) consists of a wide variety of materials, including manuscripts, proofs, and notes for a large number of Moorcock's works; convention materials; assorted periodicals, newsletters, and other publications; photographs; and many other items. This collection covers the range of Moorcock's literary and artistic career.

This collection contains fanzines and some scattered other materials relating to the television series Star Trek: The Original Series[TOS] (1966-1969). The driving force behind most of the stories in the collection - as reflecting the cultural interests of collection donor Holly Brown - is the close friendship between the characters Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock. However, stories in the collection do involve many different characters and situations.

A small portion of the collection involves media productions other than Star Trek[TOS]. These include the show's sequel series Star Trek: The Next Generation[TNG] as well as anthologies of multimedia fanfiction featuring stories from many different sources.

Other, smaller portions of the collection include copies of script drafts from various episodes of Star Trek[TOS] and Star Trek: The Animated Series[TAS], as well as program books and other materials from a number of science fiction conventions.

This collection contains manuscripts, correspondence, books, magazines, and other material related to Lansdale's writing career, circa 1989-2003.

This archive includes a full run of the publication to date to date, including the master copies of several issues. There are some additional publications and ephemera.

Self-described as "the magazine Margaret Atwood warned you about," referencing Atwood's famous dismissal of science fiction as "rockets, chemicals and talking squids in outer space," Space Squid is a science fiction/humor 'zine published in Austin, Texas.

This collection contains a number of strips from the long-running Tarzan comic strip, based on the famous books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Most of the strips were simply clipped from newspapers, including the Detroit News,  and then put in folders. Others have been encapsulated onto stiff boards.

This collection consists of materials relating to the production and performance of The Intergalactic Nemesis (originally created 1996) and its sequels. The Nemesis adventures, created by Austin, TX-native Jason Neulander, are billed as "live-action graphic novels," combining the visual medium of comic books with elements of radio play and traditional stage performance. During the stage show, panels from the comic series are projected on a large screen, while three actors perform the voices for all the characters, a Foley artist performs the sound effects (as in traditional radio shows), and a pianist performs the soundtrack.

The collection includes various drafts of the Nemesis spinoff novel Blood Sacrifice, by Neulander, along with various publicity materials relating to performances of Nemesis and its sequels; posters; copies of the published Nemesis graphic novels, comic books, CDs and DVDs, and digital recordings of broadcasts and rehearsals.

This collection consists of a number of different science fiction fanzines, most from the United States but a few from other countries.

Several of the publications, especially the early ones, are photocopies rather than originals.

This collection consists of 81 leaves of uncorrected galley proofs for Williamson's 1975 collection The Early Williamson.

This collection consists of a photocopy of the manuscript for Wilson's 1988 novel Memory Wire.

This collection consists of the uncorrected proofs (44 sheets) for McKay's 1976 novel Skean.

This collection contains notes, checklists, copies of Otto Binder letters, and edited drafts of Bill Schelly’s Words of Wonder: The Life and Times of Otto Binder (2003).

This collection consists of the galley proofs of Helltracks.

This collection contains the original manuscript, with extensive author/editor edits, of Le Guin's 1989 nonfiction collection Dancing at the Edge of the World: Thoughts on Words, Women, Places.

This collection includes correspondence to and from Clareson on his research, his science fiction journal editorship and related matters; manuscripts of some of Clareson's work, including a study of Robert Heinlein, as well as Understanding Contemporary American Science Fiction: The Formative Period (1990) and an unpublished biography of Charles Reade; research files for Clareson's study of John Wyndham; audio cassettes of interviews, panels and other appearances by Clareson; slides used by Clareson in his classroom work; and some miscellaneous materials. Also included are several awards that Clareson won for his professional work.

Several additional boxes contain research materials used by Clareson in the writing of his work The Heritage of Heinlein: A Critical Reading of the Fiction. Clareson died before he could complete the work, and it was ultimately finished and published by Joe Sanders in 2014. The materials include the manuscript for the book, as well as some original correspondence from Robert A. Heinlein, and copies of some of Heinlein's novels with notes by Clareson.

The correspondence contains letters from Lois McMaster Bujold, Harry Harrison, and James Tiptree, Jr.

The collection contains a wide variety of material related to Star Trek, including books, records, calendars and realia such as pins, playing cards, music boxes, pictures, magazines covering Star Trek, apparel, cups, and glasses, models, ornaments, and other collectibles.

Approximately 102 books have been integrated into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection. Each book added has a note "Sharon Faye Wilbur Star Trek Collection."

An additional series contains reference material relating to the author Andre Norton, with whom Wilbur was acquainted. Works by Norton that Wilbur owned have been integrated into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection.
