This series is located in Box 6. Folders 50-80 contain family correspondence from 1915 to 1959, with folder 81 containing undated correspondence. No family correspondence exists for the years 1947-1951.

Correspondence dealing with publication arrangements of Owens' books and short stories, Texas Folk Songs, and Slave Mutiny. Correspondence dealing with Walking on Borrowed Land, Owens' work on the Oral History of Texas Oil Pioneers and Walter B. Sharp's biography, Fever in the Earth, Pocantico Hills, Look to the River, and This Stubborn Soil. Correspondence dealing with Black Mutiny, Three Friends: Bedichek, Dobie, Webb, Tales From the Derrick Floor, A Season of Weathering, and A Fair and Happy Land.

Miscellaneous Santa Rosa Ranch Legal Documents and Envelopes

With the exception of one or two documents, these appear to be the handwritten research notes of legal counsel; most appear probably to be in the handwriting of attorney James Webb. The file envelopes appears to have contained documents used as evidence in legal actions.

This series contains typed transcripts of the handwritten manuscripts held in Series 1, 2, and 4. The transcripts were probably made by repository staff, but the date of composition is unknown.
